Yeah ... this is definitely illegal.
It’s hard out there for pass rushers. Hit a quarterback in the helmet and it’s 15 yards. Hit them below the waist and it’s 15 yards. Land on them and it’s 15 yards.
The strict roughing the passer rules have forced teams to practice bringing down quarterbacks in a way that doesn’t draw a yellow flag. Los Angeles Rams defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh has an idea: punch the absolute bejeezus out of them.

Hmm ... somehow I think that might be a penalty.
It’s basically the defensive equivalent of Ben Roethlisberger running through passing drills:
Suh, 31, probably isn’t going to punch Russell Wilson into next week when the Rams play the Seahawks in Week 5. But he does have a history of playing football about as violently as possible, and that earned him $620,284 in fines over the course of his career.
If Suh wants to wreck a quarterback while staying within the rules, his teammate Aaron Donald provided a good example for how to do it when he sacked Kirk Cousins a week ago:

Beware, opposing quarterbacks: the Rams’ have a pair of defensive tackles who should be feared.
